Jeff tries to apologize to Ginger for almost giving into temptation with Judy (from "Obstinancy or Constancy?")

(Jeff is asking Coach for advice in getting Ginger to take him back after catching him with Judy. Coach has suggested that Jeff practice apologizing to Ginger. He has him say, "You were right, I was wrong, I'm sorry," over and over again)

Jeff: You were right, I was wrong...

(cut to: Jeff and Ginger in Jeff's room. They are facing each other, with Jeff sitting on the edge of his bed and Ginger sitting on the edge of Jay's bed. Jeff is holding her hand)

Jeff (with love in his voice): ... I'm sorry...

(Ginger stares at him for a few moments--Jeff is hopeful she'll forgive him--then she takes her hands out of his)

Ginger (remaining steadfast): Sorry doesn't cut it, buster. I mean, it's easy to say I'm sorry!

Jeff (now being indignant): No it is not! Especially when you've tried and convicted me for something I didn't do.

Ginger: But you thought about it.

Jeff: Oh, so now I'm tried and convicted for thinking about it-

Ginger: You considered it! You considered doing something which an engaged man ought not to do. Which means you're not sure you want to be engaged to me.

Jeff (through clenched teeth): I'm sure now, ok?

Ginger (this sets her off even more): Now? (pausing to make Jeff squirm a little more about saying the wrong thing just now) Which means you weren't sure before! Which only underlines the fact that you were considering it!!

Jeff (utterly frustrated): But I'm sorry for considering it!

Ginger (not letting him off the hook yet): Oh you sure are sorry, buster.
