Jeff tries to get Ginger to forgive him (from "No Man Loyal Or Neutral") (Jeff and Ginger are sitting in separate beds in his room, with a make-shift curtain to separate them) Ginger: I'm beginning to wonder if I can trust that mechanic... Jeff (pretending not to know what she's talking about): You don't think he's being honest? Ginger: Well everytime I go back there he finds something else wrong, or he can't get the part for another week... (pauses) Will you loan me busfare back home? Jeff (starting to panic): Will I what? Ginger: I'll pay you back with interest! Jeff (thinking to himself he is not going to let her get away): Not only will I not loan you busfare, but if you try to borrow from someone else, I'll telephone your mother and tell her you spent several nights in my apartment. Ginger (shocked): You are threatening me! Jeff: Yes I am! I'm also apologizing--again! You'll notice I'm not over at Judy's apologizing to her, that should tell you something... I'm also not giving her presents... Is your pillow lumpy? Ginger: You've lost your mind- Jeff (interrupting): Is your pillow lumpy?? Ginger (has no idea what he's talking about): No! Jeff: Well, check it again!! (Ginger checks and it is lumpy--Jeff has hidden a box underneath it. She opens the box in curiosity and is touched to see that it's a charm bracelet) Jeff (hoping she found it, wondering what her reaction is): You car probably won't be ready till after tomorrow's game... You might enjoy coming, if you've got nothing better to do... (Ginger looks over in Jeff's direction... She can't stay mad at him...)
